Never could get into Being Human but wouldn't likening someone to Mitchell not humanise so much as woobify them? I think I just have a weird disconnect with vampires=human thrill killers. It feels like a way of flattening the pathology. Mitchell kills for the same reason all vampires do but every serial killer is a unique and special bloody snowflake. I kind of think Nabakov sets the standard for paedophile stories. Get sucked too far into Lolita and you begin to feel not just that Humbert could be human but that parts of him could be you.
