I think (at least one of) the reason(s) I'm so miserable about this has solidified.

In the end, it doesn't matter if Buffy's under the glowhypnol, has lost her soul or whatever. Teh Spuffy Reunion was a one-time deal and now it's done. And it was shit on toast, by all accounts.

I've grown tired of the clichés over the years and I'm sure we all have to some extent. Seven years in the making and obviously you need to subvert something or other, just to make it seem fresh. But one, maybe two sarcastic lines of unfeeling nothing? What a joke.

Thanks, Joss, really. You can see why I respect and love you so much as a writer. You never stop giving.

Just read the synopsis you link to and my only questions are "What is it with Joss? Isn't he the guy that said fanfic was okay? What's with the breaking his own toys and throwing the pieces out of the sandbox ala Russell T. Davies? Is it a middle-aged male crisis thing?"

I have no idea. There are theories he's going to turn around and 'fix it' in the last four issues, but this madness has been going on for so long now... I think he was in a very bad mood when he planned this out.
