Why the BBC is AWESOME

Last year's Never Mind the Buzzcocks Christmas special was on iPlayer again, and it is still HILARIOUS. I still don't know why they made it Doctor Who themed, but David Tennant and Catherine Tate are on the best form ever, as are Phil and Noel, and of course Bernard Cribbins (what a ledg). I still think Buzzcocks has gone downhill since Simon Amstell left, but, oh, when it's good it's good.

I sporadically hear loads about this show, but I can't bring myself to watch it because it seems like something I'd probably end up kind of liking and then spend way more time than I should trying to hunt it down to watch 2 minute snippets on the Internet. Which is all more trouble than I want to endure. Which is sad, because it seems like something I'd probably end up liking....

Enough with the circuitous logic.

It is a very good show - and actually very well represented on YouTube, IIRC, especially if you don't mind it not being quite as topical (because there's more older stuff than new). Once you work out which series you'd like to watch, plugging in (for example) 'Buzzcocks S19E01' tends to get you what you want - I think it's something to do with the fact that the BBC doesn't have such a high commercial interest in the copyright, and it isn't really a programme where they release the DVDs. If you fancy wasting some time, the best episodes I can think of start with the following parts (the links to the rest are all on the side:

The one where Amy Winehouse is drunk.
The one with John Barrowman, being very loud and proposing a 'gay-off' with Simon, the host.
The one where Preston walks off (I don't know his music either, but the episode's hilarious).
The one where Bonnie Tyler is drunk and Mel C is kickass.

A lot of the episodes are filler, but sometimes the guests are great.
