A Legally Blonde dragon story, I adore your brain. You could do interesting so many thrilling things with that - if dragons are sentient, are they also bound by human laws? If a dragon eats a human, is it murder? How does dragon morality work, and is it acceptable to force human morality on them? In what ways should humans work towards having a non-violent relationship with dragons? I suppose you could do a dragons-always-existed AU thing (like the Temeraire series) or an "Elle discovers a lone dragon on vacation in Tasmania and fights for its rights" thing.
