The Thick of It

I'm very behind on the internet at the moment - sorry about that. That time I took off for my arm caught up with me and I spent last weekend working... Term time comes with too many seminars + semi compulsory socialising, which I had forgotten.
Anyway, this series of The Thick of It has been a bit strange. I've enjoyed a lot of it, but the energy and balance has been a bit off, I think. Rewatching last night's episode, I can't help but feel like this episode should have come first, with the others following in a flashback. This inquiry ep plays very much like a drama, not least because we know all the background about what's going on, but it would be a far more Leveson-like and hilarious to just have all the off-hand ridiculous revelations presented without any background. And then the other episodes would have got a lot more strength from the gradual revelation about things (and they could have purposely played off against what we knew from the inquiry, which doesn't quite work the other way round). It would also have given the new characters+positions a better introduction, because I found the in medias res intros a bit weird.
