Just got back from the Cambridge Reclaim the Night march and vigil, which was brilliant fun (I very much enjoy being rowdy, especially in a productive way). Most of the public were supportive in that dazed British way of accepting a flyer and carrying on, but (plus!) there were quite a few smiles in addition to that, and I think only a couple of people trying to bring us down, so definitely good times.

Apparently it was the first time the women's march had met up with a corresponding men's vigil towards the end of our route, and (though I've never been on the march before), I think it made a great addition. It was pretty cool to come round the corner after going through town and finding a group of men waiting to support us for the final few streets. Symbolism eat your heart out.

There was music and a few talks after that, from Rape Crisis England & Wales, UK Feminista, the White Ribbon Campaign UK and Feminist Fightback, which I was glad to hear present a range of feminist viewpoints (especially on the laws surrounding sex workers). There were a couple of points where I was worried I was about to cry (both surprising considering how little I cry as a rule and unsurprising considering this is not an unprecedented reaction when I come face to face with certain systemic realities), especially when someone played Caleb Meyer, which I'd heard once before (from the same student singer/guitarist - she's very good), but, again, very enjoyable.
