I think the technical definition of this post is SPAM, but Dungeons & Dragons 2 (ie. the film) was just on SyFy and it was great! I stand by that the first film wasn't that bad anyway, but this one had everything going for it - action adventure with puzzles and traps, spells and old books, DRAGONS, not to mention a balanced party of a slightly past-it male knight, a female barbarian, a male rogue, a female elf mage and a male cleric (who cops it pretty quick - ha!) - along with a parallel plot involving Mr. Knight's wife, a talented mage in her own right, who's eager to prove herself and be elected to the Council of Mages (which she does when she, with a little help from hubby, saves the kingdom - yay!).
The acting was maybe TV quality rather than stunning blockbuster, and the story was as you could expect from, well, any D&D story ever, but I thought it was Good Stuff (apart from the complete lack of CoC, which wasn't true in the original film - I don't know if this was something to do with a lot of the casting being Lithuanian). And as a fantasy film I'd rather watch it than LotR, if only because of the pacing.
Has, um, anyone else seen it?
