I did another
sb_fag_ends ficlet - Half-Loop Topstitch, set almost immediately post Sleeper. It's a little bit sad. :(
But, in news of more serious fic, I'm hoping to find some lovely people who could help me get the next three books of my Spikeid (IV-VI) ready for public consumption. Anyone who likes/understands poetry/scansion, I would really like to ask you for help, especially if you've read the Aeneid as well (or any epic really). It's a bit of a tall order: each book is around 4000 words and they're all in iambic pentameter, but I'm really hoping to get opinions on the three as a sequence and then post them quite soon after one another (not least because IV is heavily OC-focussed). So anyone who has a reasonable amount of time on their hands and would like to fill it with slightly awkward pentameter, um, hi! Do you fancy critting something?
(And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, because it's been a long time since I posted about this, I've got the first three books up, starting from here. ;) )

Date: 18/09/2010 21:12 (UTC)And, well, I think you got a pretty thorough run-down of my (LOL MEAGRE) qualifications wrt epic the other day at my DW (though I'm a bit better on Milton than Virgil!). Plus ... I am (or SHOULD BE) pretty horribly busy atm, and for sure over this coming week, so I couldn't promise 100% reliability.
Oh, and while my love for Buffy is deep, I haven't watched any for a good few months, and I know nothing of the fandom (or, um, indeed of the precise mechanics of beta-ing...), so, yeah.
But nevertheless! Reading through three books of Aeneid!Buffy sounds like good times to me (cave scene?!), and while I have a shamefully tin ear I know the basics. So if that sounds useful, let me know!

Date: 18/09/2010 21:28 (UTC)As for the mechanics of beta-ing, you don't need to worry too much - I would be very happy for you to just go through what I've got making comments with Word's Review function or whatever on what you like/don't like/think needs improving/think sounds awkward. Sort of like a review, but with focus on the bad bits rather than the good bits (if there are any!). Whatever you've got time available to do is absolutely fine!
I'll pop you an email!

Date: 18/09/2010 21:39 (UTC)And, yay, excitement! I can't promise anything substantive, but I'll definitely try and be useful and I know I'll have fun!
