verity posted her fic mix for her Sherlock fic Close Quietly, which made me think I could get away with posting the mix I made for the Spikeid - or at least the first half, since I probably shouldn't post the second half before I've written it (though judging by the soundtrack, it should become awesome...).

Well, I do now!! Apparently our compatibility is 'very low'... Though considering mine only has my data off my iTunes rather than my iPod, I feel like it's a bit skewed (is there a way of fixing that?). I do love The Mars Volta, but there just happens to be a lot of tracks in the Baldur's Gate soundtrack; I haven't listened to it in ages...

(Also, NOW PEOPLE CAN SEE WHAT I'M LISTENING TO! Though I was listening to your soundtrack already anyway, so no shame there...)

Hahaha. Last.fm is of course skewed by all the times I forget I have an album on repeat and wander off somewhere... but I like all your stuff, so I'm glad for a chance to check out more of it!

Yay! I'm intrigued by how your stats make it seem like these were the tracks you were listening to while you wrote. :P (Now I just have to see how paranoid I become...)

Bwahahaha! :D Actually, I have mostly listened to Air's soundtrack for The Virgin Suicides and Justice, with a touch of OK Go on the side. Everything else I either listen to while wandering around NYC thinking about the story or I just put together from music I listen to when I'm not writing.

I'm trying to come up with some Thoughts about your soundtrack, you know, and I have a feeling I'm being affected by our different ways of listening to music (in terms of lyrics vs. how the noise makes noise). I'm getting the hesitancy/tension, followed by cheeriness and the slow darkening of tone, but I'm not sure I'm tuning in enough! (I think Close Your Eyes and it's easy-going cheeriness is my favourite moment, though! And You, Appearing is a wonderful closing track.)

It's possibly relevant to note that I have substantial hearing loss in one ear as well as mild auditory processing issues. So I tend to pick up on sound/noise first, lyrics second. If the lyrics aren't very clear, I have to look them up. (Thus far, I like your mix A LOT! And I have no idea what the lyrics to anything are, lol.)

I think you are getting all of the things out of that mix I put into it! (Admittedly, you haven't seen the new ending, so some of the foreshadowing may be confusing if you're thinking about what was there before. This ending gets way dark.)

I think I knew that about your hearing/processing - but I still think of you as being a very lyricsy person! Maybe that's just vids/maybe you're just normal in terms of vids and I'm weird and into the instrumental stuff... I'm not very good at hearing lyrics at all and tend not to pick up on much beside the main hooks of things (case in point: I looooove The Mars Volta, at least for the first three albums, but I don't understand what they're saying even when I know the words - and doubly so when they're in Spanish). And yay for love!!

And, actually, maybe it is the new ending that's making me go 'hmm!'. I look forward to it! (Though the change between your last two tracks is almost Joss Whedon levels of mood-shift; I'm suddenly fearing for Sherlock...) Especially now I'm getting into your mix more, which is very cool, if not my usual speed. :P
