Gingerbread Ampelmännchen

People may or may not remember when I commented back in April that my mum's souvenir, when we went to Berlin, was a set of Ampelmännchen pastry cutters... Neither of us were entirely sure when they were going to get used, but today their time came!!

Don't they look like they're having a nice time on their Thomas the Tank Engine plate?



And they're very tasty too. Not that they're making me hyper, no no no.

ZWOAH, those look yummy. Perfectly plump. Also, heeeee, I remember those little dudes in Berlin! I have sketches in my travel journal of all the variations in crosswalk signage across Central Europe.

Heh, it was all very touch and go for a while - I rolled the dough out too thin and was going to go for it anyway, but then when I was scooping the leftover bits together again and realised that, in a recipe that was supposed to make twenty, I'd already made 18 and had maybe half the dough left - and then I had visions of brittle crunchy things, so started again... Anyway, I'm excited by these sketches - what other variations are there?? I've been to Prague and Vienna, but can't really remember anything in particular.
