I saw
stultiloquentia do this and was all, 'I haven't seen it anywhere...' - but then suddenly it was everywhere!! So here I am, belatedly (or not) on the bandwagon...
Hey! It's me! /Portal
Questions.
Who are you?
Where are you from?
Say the following words: Aunt, Roof, Route, Wash, Oil, Theatre, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting Image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pyjamas, Caught, Orange, Coffee, Direction, Naturally, Aluminium and Herbs.
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
PS. ZOMG,
penny_lane_42, my comment on Pepsi vs. Coke totally wasn't a comment on your answer to that question! It's about English people who don't do it with anything else... I'm only joking anyway...?

Date: 18/01/2011 03:51 (UTC)Doesn't everyone call the last piece of TV equipment "the thing"?

Date: 18/01/2011 08:43 (UTC)I'm not entirely sure I know what this would sound like, so your voice remains a mystery to me!
The TV thing is actually one of the more interesting questions, it seems! I always knew my 'flicker' was idiosyncratic, but it seems every family has their own version. I wonder if it's because people were left to their own devices on what to call it when they started selling them with TVs...

Date: 18/01/2011 23:21 (UTC)Very true on the TV thing. Even when they were the latest greatest thing (which I distinctly remember), I don't think anyone ever called then "the remote control," which is what I think the instruction books have always called them. Just goes to show you that absolutely no one reads the instructions!

Date: 19/01/2011 00:29 (UTC)Hey, I didn't get the curly bug question! That's a pill bug, or an armadillidiid. :D

Date: 19/01/2011 09:19 (UTC)OK, armadilliadiid is officially the best name I've heard so far. :D Some clever Brits and I (belatedly) worked out that everyone's talking about what we, quite boringly, call woodlice. And that confusion comes because we don't tend to go around poking them! ;)
