People of the world - if any one's interested in hearing dubstep meet classical symphony, it's about to start HERE and the Beeb are broadcasting live to anyone worldwide who wants to tune in, apparently. Not that 8pm BST is a useful time everywhere, but if you're around and feel like it, join me!! (Reaction coming soon.)

LIIIINK

Welll... I was a little disappointed, really. :( I could see where it was going to start with, and the drum stuff and rising strings really had me dancing, but then it broke into - film music? I wasn't dancing by about four minutes in and neither was anybody in the studio, and if you don't have that then you don't have dubstep, I don't think. And, for me, they didn't have symphony either; apart from some minor, minor moments, every single instrument was treated like percussion, which felt like a massive shame. The vocal samples were a welcome break at the end when they came in, but I don't understand why the strings or the wind or the brass weren't used more melodically than they were, rather than just tapping out rhythms over and over. They were crying out to start singing with something way more epic than what they had, with bass booming (maybe I don't have good enough bass on my speakers to get what was being put out, but I wasn't really getting anything). Ah well. I think the fusion could work; they just need someone to do it better. It felt a bit like Nero were scared of the orchestra, so just composed on an Apple Mac and got someone/thing to notate it. There needed to be more love for the instruments they had, as far as I was concerned...
