So apparently Epitaph One has reached the internetz. Oh, it was so lovely... (Everyone go find it so we can chat!!) Even if it did Joss my fanfic. :(

So, how does the world end? Apparently Rossum introduces immortality, while Topher gets an idea on how to make an army. Everything goes bonkers (especially Topher). The LA Dollhouse goes on lockdown because DeWitt is a decent person. Then Caroline, natch, comes with Paul to save all the actives and kill all the employees... She then goes to found a happy little colony, leaving a record of her personality behind. Cue 2019 and our intrepid band of Felicia Day, nasty guy, nice guy, woman with Kennedy's haircut, little girl and little girl's 'dad', on the run from the tech brigade. They find the Dollhouse, little girl starts bumping people off. They find Whiskey, who's turned into a mad woman bred from Bronte crossed with Poe. She knows how they can get Caroline back. Eventually only nasty guy and Felicia Day are left with the little girl - nasty guy twigs what's going on and they imprint the little girl with Caroline. People come, they make a break for it, leaving Whiskey behind (at her insistence) to gas the intruders. Safe Haven apparently lies up a rope ladder leading from Adelle's office.

I cannot say how much love I have for the scene between DeWitt and Topher - the way that DeWitt and Topher have devolved into roles of mother and son (I say devolved because all the complexities of their relationship have been removed - though I think there's some meta to be had about matrons equalling mothers and manboys). Topher's line - "That's brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? [beat] Did I think of that?"... It's such a wonderful way for the character to end up - so different from Warren, though they both play Joss's beloved sociopathic-nerd archetype.

Caroline and Paul apparently end up in a S7-Spuffy relationship. "The jury's out on 'together', but he's got my back" (or something like that anyway). I actually rather liked this Caroline, both ED's version that we saw in the flashbacks and the version done by the little girl. (People keep an eye on whoever played that little girl BTW; she was good.) Obviously all the sanctimonious idealism was still there, but it had been roughed up by the war into something actually effective. In some ways it makes the Caroline of before seem much more believable - remember, after all, that she failed pretty utterly at getting the vids of the cages on YouTube. She was never meant to be useful, though now she has become so.

Saunders/Boyd? Hmm...

Whiskey ended up as my favourite character by the end of Omega, this just confirmed that she is the best. If not even nearly all there anymore. And we still don't know what her original personality was, so I'm sticking with Ganymede. Even if we now know that Topher was brought in to an up-and-running Dollhouse rather than helping to build it. (Ack, decisions. Canon will clearly erode away my independence until sticking firmly anti-canon seems stupid, so I need to decide whether to keep Ganymede as Topher's friend or as the developer of the tech. Boo.) I wonder where he got her ridiculous white cocktail dress from. And how they fixed her face, which apparently they did.

I can't work out if I want to write meta for this or just watch it again. And again. Roll on the DVD, that's all I can say. And this show needs to run for 10 seasons so it can take us steadily but inexorably to this point. Plz. The X-Files practically did it.

[How could I have ever doubted Olivia Williams? How??]

The only criticism I could possibly chuck at it was that it got worryingly close to deconstructing itself unsolicited, which I find a little distasteful. But it stayed on the right side, I think. (And it definitely gets bonus points for not having Nathan Fillion randomly appear in a scene, which I was almost expecting.)

Ooh, and you know what there needs to be at the end of Season 2? Epitaph Two. With more flashbacks and another instance of Whiskey showing randomers how to use the Caroline imprint, for unity's sake. It would be class.

I watched it. I mostly agree with you. It was a great ep, and a very believable future. Topher and the "Did I think of it ?" line broke my heart.
I don't know if Caroline killed the employees. There's a part of me who wants her to have let them live, maybe by kicking them out.
There are some things that I didn't get. What did the headaches's have to do with everything ?

Also, what was in the gas at the end ? Because if it's poisonous, then Whiskey's dead...
