Otherwise, I think I agree with the (admittedly) subtext of this article, that the weather at the moment is essentially ridiculous. I just wandered to Asda (don't miss Sainsbury's really, though as regular readers will know I was a faithful patron...) and it was, what, six to half-six? The sun was setting, such that it's pretty gloomy now, but on the way there it still felt like it was blazing. I had short sleeves on! And it's October tomorrow! The park I walked past was carpeted in fallen leaves and it definitely smelled like bonfirey autumn, but it was basically baking. This lunchtime it actually was baking, but I don't think I can believe that it felt too hot to be walking home with a big bag of shopping in a t-shirt, on the 30th September. It was more like walking around at 10pm in the middle of a July/August heatwave; utterly ridiculous...

There wasn't much point to this post; I think I need to go and make my tea.

I hear you, the weather is RIDICULOUS. I'd sort of mentally prepped myself for winter already, and now it's like July. Hot July. At least I'm far enough up north that it's more "yay, don't need a jacket! and sometimes I can even wear just a T-shirt!" than "AAAH ROASTING AAAAH".

I've been spending most of the days this week in libraries, where I've been needing a cardigan anyway, so it hasn't been so bad - but I'm only just starting to think 'hang on, isn't it about now you need to start considering gloves while cycling? Why am I a sweaty mess in short sleeves'. And this lunchtime I was actually worried about sunburn. Sunburn! *shakes head*

I just heard on the news as I was driving home that this is the hottest summer(+) in Great Britain on record (or one of the hottest spells on record).

I think the idea is that it's the hottest changeover from September to October - yesterday was the hottest 30th September on record, I think, and today is supposedly going to be the hottest October day on record. I don't think the summer over all has been anything to shout about though - it's been pretty miserable since about June! All the leaves, for example, have been dying several weeks early, which is why so may of them are falling now.
