Illyria Vid: Black and White

It's a vid! It's been ages since I finished a vid and this one's been hanging around for a while, so I really wanted to share it as soon as I was happy. It's a bit experimental/conceptual, which might be a mistake since I think that's how my normal vids come off, but I had fun making it!

Black and White.

There isn't masses of flashing light in this vid, but there is a lot of motion. Content-wise it's probably PG.

This pain remembers her.

Wow, that's beautiful. I haven't watched AtS5 since it aired, so it took me a couple viewings to remember what was going on in certain key clips, such as the one where she's got electricity arcing between her finger and thumb. The lightning is a metaphor: making a leap, a connection -- between herself and Fred. I loved the parts in her crumbled hall, too. They made me conceive of Fred herself as a fallen world. Girl, citadel. It's about Illyria coming to see herself as both victim and destroyer. She used to talk about walking in landscapes unimaginably vast, and now she learns that she is still doing that, because every tiny, base, pathetic human is that vast.

Or at least that's what I got out of it. Also, Amy Acker is freakin' phenomenal.

Thanks very much! I think you got great things out of it! :D The perspective I was working from was the idea that, in the face of her own bereavement, Illyria finds herself calling on Fred's memories/humanity to understand what the heck it is she's going through, but in doing that she opens the floodgates to all these other emotions and perceptions. So basically the same thing, really! Only yours makes sense of the imagery better. ;)

And Amy Acker is effing amazing. I can't believe she was wasted for so long on Fred; I should do a Claire from Dollhouse vid... Although, I think I've used up most of my Claire theses on fic.
