Oh no; it's snowing...

Have decided this proves I am an adult: the snow has come, and all I can think about is that it's going to make it really hard to get to the library on Monday.

Also I'm out of all food that isn't pie. And Coke! I'm out of Coke! I meant to go to Asda today, but I was playing FFXIII and then I was cleaning... Thankfully Housemate is still excited enough by snow to be willing to adventure out with me. Of course, the Saturday crowd means there probably isn't going to be everything I want left, but hopefully there'll be non-pie food and some flapjack ingredients. And Coke.

Alas, this isn't PIE pie; this is Asda one pound for an individual sized chicken'n'gravy/steak'n'gravy/steak'n'kidney etc. pie. Woman cannot live on it alone... But now it has been joined by other food items!

Yeah... :( We did have fun taking some snowy pictures, though - did you know that snow falls fast enough that a flash photo makes it look like streamers are falling from the sky?

Pfft. You'll be a Proper Adult when (like me), you bought tinned tomatoes, baking potatoes, cheese, bread, eggs and milk today. Not for any specific cooking plans, Just In Case.

(In my case, In Case is in case of not being able to make it 200 yards to the nearest Sainsbury's, so that's basically Doomsday, but there we are. I have shopped. And I'll be eating very dull meals all week, snowmaggedon or not.)

Though you should feel free to use this as the basis of your shopping list, and get practising Adulthood.

Also, flax breakfast cereal. When you're buying flax breakfast cereals, you are way over the line into maturity.

Yeah, that didn't happen. But I did buy a new type of tea (rooibos, pear and cinnamon) because the bastard Saturday shoppers had taken all of my preferred type (lemongrass, mint and yerba mate), and I bought black treacle and Coke (not on the best deal, because that had gone too - I ended up with sixteen cans for £7 rather than 15 for a fiver) and I bought some posh tomatoes to make my salad more exciting and...

I think your shopping list would need far more baking ingredients before I understood it as 'basic'! ;)

But you can't always have baking ingredients - you have to buy more at least on some occasions. eg. regularly.

You underestimate my ability to have cupboards smugly full of unused flour. But, as it happens, all replaced after Xmas baking flurry so I am *sorted*. (Including chucking anything ancient, with suspicious signs of bugs, for once.)

Except for yeast, come to think of it. But I never make bread. I can live off cake, right? I have all the ingredients for another round of lemon-pistachio stollen bars for the office, that'll keep me going for a week for a start. Mmmm, marzipanny...

Can you believe I let myself be out of black treacle and oats? It's utterly shameful. Thankfully I am now stocked up, and have brownie ingredients as well. :D
